Retirement
You're thinking about retirement but will you be ready? As much as half of your retirement income will have to come from your own savings.
What you can do:
Save money! It is never too early and seldom too late to begin.
Diversify your investments and savings. Even when retired, you'll want a good part of your portfolio to be in stocks which pay the highest returns in the long run.
Grab any tax-saving or tax-deferred plan--such as a 401k, profit sharing or IRA--available to you.
Women should put away even more; they tend to have less invested, and they live longer.
Know the plan! If you have a benefits administrator where you work, ask to discuss your benefits, including Social Security and Medicare.
Before you take early retirement, or a second job, understand the impact on your benefits and income tax bracket.
